Street Reconstruction
The Dumbo Improvement District remains an advocate for public investment in DUMBO's ailing infrastructure.

In September of FY07, we successfully completed a temporary overhaul of the  sidewalk on Water Street in front of Empire Stores and were also successful in getting Key Span to preserve historic Belgian block street corners on Front Street following recent repairs.

In late spring 2009, the City of New York began the historic Water Street Reconstruction. This is a multi-phased project, which commenced on Water Street and is continuing on Washington Street.  As with any construction, we anticipate certain inconveniences arising.  We look forward to working with the City of New York and our community to mitigate the impact of construction on all who live, work and visit DUMBO.

The New York City Department of Design and Construction (NYCDDC) is managing a capital construction project on Water Street from Adams Street to Old Fulton Street and Washington Street from York Street to Plymouth Street.  The project commenced in the Summer of 2009 and is scheduled to be completed in the Summer of 2011.

Below is contact information specific to the Water Street Project (Project Number SEK002355) for the Department of Design & Construction.
